WHO IS BEHIND THIS SITE?

Hi! I'm Stephen, or as the headlines apparently call me, “Alberta Man.”

I grew up in a small rural town in Alberta, and I live in one now too.

I work in tech, spend far too much time following politics the way most people follow sports, and I do technical production for a couple of political podcasts.

I’m normally a pretty private person, but if I’m going to ask people to trust what they’re reading here, I think it’s fair they know who’s behind it.

What is referendum?
WHY DID YOU DO THIS?

Because these referendum questions are written to make the answer feel obvious before anyone has time to think about it.

The wording matters. What gets included matters. What gets left out matters even more.

This project started as a joke and then very quickly stopped being one. Once I started digging into the government’s website, it became clear the official version was doing a lot of persuasive work while pretending to simply “inform.”

I’m not trying to tell people how to vote. I’m just pointing out that the government site already is.

Albertans aren’t dumb. They can make up their own minds. They just deserve all the facts first.

HOW CAN I HELP?

Share it. The number of people relieved to see someone else asking the same questions might surprise you. It certainly surprised me.

This site is meant to make people stop, think twice, and look a little closer before they vote.

And if I’ve missed something important, I’d rather know than pretend otherwise. For media or other inquiries: media@albertareferendumb2026.ca
